DESCRIPTION
This
Master Lecturer Special Event features renowned MMPI expert Dr. Alex Caldwell
of Caldwell Report. The morning portion of this intermediate course examines
some of the applications and advances of the MMPI-2 with clinical and
forensic populations to assess issues such as dangerousness and malingering;
and to assist in disability, workers compensation, personal injury, and
child custody evaluations. The afternoon segment features actual MMPI
profiles of selected high-profile criminals such as Jeffrey Dahmer, John
Dupont, Charles Manson, and Sirhan Sirhan. Finally, participants will
have the opportunity to have Dr. Caldwell provide a live blind-reading
of one or two MMPI-2 profiles submitted by the participants, followed
by brief case-integration by the therapist. Please bring an MMPI-2 profile
with you on the day of the course. The most interesting profiles submitted
in the morning will be examined in the afternoon. |

Caldwell, Ph.D., ABPP is the MMPI experts’ MMPI expert!
He is a Psychologist (PSY 2143), a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology from
the American Board of Professional Psychology, and an internationally-recognized
leader in the interpretation of the MMPI. Through his informative Caldwell
Report, he continues to set the standard for computer-based test interpretation.
Recognized by fellow psychologists for excellence in MMPI and MMPI-2 test
interpretation and scholarship, Dr. Caldwell was the recipient of the
California Psychological Association's Distinguished Scientific Achievement
Award in, the Distinguished Contribution to the Profession of Clinical
Psychology from the Los Angeles Society of Clinical Psychologists, and
was recognized in 1999 by the Wisconsin Psychology Foundation with their
first ever Wisconsin Psychology Enrichment Award. Dr.
Caldwell is the author of Forensic Questions and Answers on the MMPI®/MMPI-2™.
Written for use by attorneys as well as forensic psychologists, the question-and-answer
format has been especially well received for its immediate practical applicability.
He has also completed an extensive audiotape series on the interpretation
of the MMPI® and MMPI-2™ test and a video, The Profile of Jeffrey
Dahmer, wherein Dr. Caldwell analyzes two distinct MMPI® profiles
of the serial killer. All are available from Caldwell Report. He
is a retired Clinical Professor from the UCLA Department of Psychology
and Department of Psychiatry.

Dr.
Caldwell was privileged to pursue both undergraduate and graduated studies
at the University of Minnesota during the tenure of Drs. Starke R. Hathaway
and Paul E. Meehl. Dr. Hathaway served as Dr. Caldwell's graduate advisor,
mentor, and friend. He considers Dr. Paul Meehl's lectures as the most
intellectually stimulating experience in his life.
Dr. Caldwell completed his doctoral dissertation in 1958. In 1959, he
joined the faculty of UCLA in the department of psychiatry, and was later
given an appointment in the Department of Psychology. He retired as Clinical
Professor from both UCLA departments in 1997.
Dr. Caldwell developed one of the first computerized MMPI® interpretation
programs in the late 1960s. This exquisitely crafted actuarial program,
containing over 40,000 codetype sentences and corresponding algorithms,
is based upon innumerable case studies and the research literature as
well as Dr. Caldwell's vast clinical experience.
The resulting program specifies personality characteristics and predictions
from MMPI-2™ profiles well beyond the predictive ability of the
most experienced clinician. The final written assessment, the Caldwell
Report is renowned for its accuracy, depth, and clinical and forensic
utility. Unique to Caldwell Report is the active participation of Dr.
