| QUESTIONS Write short essay answers to any four of the following six questions. 1. When Frankenstein's creation wrestles privately to pronounce properly the words “friend, family, and father” is he perhaps struggling psychologically with something truly more sublime and profound? Briefly, what might that be? 2. At the “sea of ice” the creature says, “For the sympathy of one living being, I would make peace with all. I have love in me the likes of which you can scarcely imagine, and rage the likes of which you would not believe--if I cannot satisfy the one, I will indulge the other.” Give a brief reaction or response to this dialogue. 3. Do intellect and cleverness, creation and accomplishment often masquerade as subtle and sophisticated addictions and obsessions veiled in socially acceptable garb? Frankenstein insists that his work must come before his fiancée, social laws, morality, and his own life. How does this attitude indicate a healthy or an addictive and obsessional process? Briefly explain. 4. Describe a treatment plan for one of the characters in the film assuming he or she came to you for psychotherapy. 5. What did you learn from the film that you believe will enhance your clinical skills? 6. How might clients benefit from viewing the film and discussing it in therapy? |
