| QUESTIONS Write short essay answers to any four of the following six questions. 1. After Bell turns down Gaston's unilateral marriage pronouncement/declaration/ command, he rages: “Who does she think she is? That girl has tangled with the wrong man! No one says no to Gaston! Dismissed, rejected, publicly humiliated, its more then I can bear!” Using DSM IV criteria, please indicate whether a diagnosis of Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and/or Antisocial Personality Disorder would apply to Gaston. Please provide three examples to support your assessment. 2. The field of psychotherapy attracts both practitioners who range from the most noble, compassionate, altruistic, kind, and spiritual, to the most manipulative, hurtful, deceitful, and self-oriented. How would you describe the therapist depicted in this film? Have you any personal reactions? Please be brief. 3. At one point in the film, Gaston declares: “I use antlers in all of my decorating.” How one decorates their home, their body, and their life tells much about them. Have you any examples of current unsettling “decorators” in our culture and society which come to mind? (You might want to watch the 6:00 o'clock news for hints and ideas). 4. Describe a treatment plan for one of the characters in the film assuming he or she came to you for psychotherapy. 5. What did you learn from the film that you believe will enhance your clinical skills? 6. How might clients benefit from viewing the film and discussing it in therapy? |
